Aside from marketing, here’s another huge use for Twitter and social networking… help and support. Bank of America has done a very wise thing in providing an official Twitter account to support their customers.

I hope other information based services follow suit. It would be great to see companies like Dell, Amazon, or Microsoft offer support this way. The direct messaging feature in Twitter gives it a level of privacy.

Being able to connect (to me) is always the hardest part of tech support in large companies. Imagine if “please continue to hold, your business is important to us” turned into just leaving a tweet! Awesome.
